Brian H Taylor, LMSW
Hi, I'm Brian, a psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, and clinical social worker. I have been practicing since 2009 and in the Metro Detroit area since 2012. I am a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Social Work.
My treatment style is eclectic, which means that I incorporate the best of different styles. I believe that therapy involves a secure, safe, non-judgmental environment that serves as a foundation, from which we add on techniques that can be most beneficial for you to achieve the goals that you wish to reach. Regarding the techniques, I've learn a lot over the years. The ones that I've found to be the most beneficial include the following: DBT/CBT (Dialectical behavior therapy/Cognitive behavior therapy): This style helps you to understand the interplay between, emotions and behavior and gives a number of options for addressing this. It also provides a number of coping skills for assistance with regulation emotions, dealing with thoughts, handling difficult times and successfully dealing with other people. EMDR (Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing): EMDR is a powerful technique for healing from trauma and/or hurtful memories. My belief in EMDR has led me to additional training, and I am a EMDRIA approved therapist and consultant in training. Energy psychology: The methods of energy psychology that I have learned are emotional freedom technique (EFT) and the original EP method, thought field therapy (TFT). I am trained in TFT through the optimal health/voice technology level, which means that I am able to provide accurate TFT services in person and through telehealth. Energy psychology involves the use of the body's meridian system and involves the use of painless, needle free accupressure techniques for the reduction and elimination of distressing emotions. Hypnosis: Where the mind leads, the body follows. The use of hypnosis is helpful in many ways, from relaxation to habit reduction and many other things. |
